I was born in Chicago, Illinois, but grew up in Oklahoma City, where I attended Putnam City schools all 12 years, and graduated from Putnam City High School (PCO) in 1973. I attended and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1977, and later attended Southwestern Seminary (Ft.Worth), and graduated from Midwestern Seminary (Kansas City) with a Masters of Divinity degree. I have ministered in churches in Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Missouri, and have been at Cherokee Hills since September of 1998.
I met my wife, Cynthia (Koontz), while taking some seminary extension classes at OBU, and we married in June of 1979. The Lord has blessed us with five fantastic children (Michelle, Jonathan, Sarah, Rachel & Rebekah), a son-in-law (Michael Cheng), and three grandchildren (Brandon, Megon, and Kailon). God is good!
My "Life Verse" is Proverbs 3:4-6 "So, you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and man, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
