Acting as an outreach platform for Cherokee Hills Baptist Church.
It is our desire to provide the best in fine arts instruction. We are dedicated to creating an atmosphere where students can learn fine arts, grow spiritually and use their talents to glorify our Creator.
Private study is offered in piano, voice, violin, viola, guitar, percussion, woodwinds, brass and art. The lessons are offered on a weekly basis in 30 minute blocks. Advanced lessons are available with permission from the instructor and Academy director. These lessons are 60 minutes and will have an additional cost.
To begin the enrollment process, students must complete a registration form and pay a $10 nonrefundable registration fee. When a student is enrolled he/she is committing to an entire semester of study. The semester is a 12 week course of study beginning the week of September 8, 2008 and ending the week of December 1, 2008. The semester will be capped off with a recital tentatively scheduled for December 7, 2008.
To provide consistency and an atmosphere conducive to learning, all Academy lessons are taught at Cherokee Hills Baptist Church. No exceptions. During the enrollment process, each student or parent will be contacted by the Academy director to confirm a convenient lesson time. Once a lesson time is established, it is important that the student continue through the semester with that time.
We consider your private lesson time as a standing appointment. If the teacher has to miss a lesson, it will be made up. If the student misses a lesson, PRIOR NOTICE IS REQUIRED. Twenty-four hour notice is preferable. However, if a student wakes up ill on a lesson morning, please call the instructor as soon as possible. Under these circumstances (with proper prior notice) the teacher will make up ONE lesson per student per semester.
It is important for students to hear other students play/sing. There is also great value in students’ performing in public. Therefore, each student will be required to attend and play/sing on the end of the semester recital and should plan to remain for the entire performance.
The Hills Fine Arts Academy tuition covers all lessons, administrative expenses, salaries and recital expenses. Lesson books are not covered by tuition. The general cost of books is $15 to $25 per semester.
Tuition is $20 per 30 minute lesson and $35 per 60 minute lesson. There are 12 weeks in the fall 2008 semester. The tuition will be broken into three payments. For 30 minute lessons $80 will be due at your scheduled lesson the week of September 8th, October 6th and November 3rd. For 60 minute lessons $140 will be due at your scheduled lesson the week of September 8th, October 6th and November 3rd.
A student should be able to practice on an instrument that facilitates progress. Guitars and violins should be fitted to the individual and may need upgrading as the child grows. Piano students may begin on a keyboard. After a student has study piano for several semesters, having an acoustic piano is imperative, or the student’s technique will suffer and precious instructional time will be lost. The Academy director and teachers will be happy to recommend dealers for new, used, or rental instruments.
