A VISION FOR DISCIPLESHIP

Vision for Adult Discipleship Ministry:   “Our intentional and deliberate goal is to expose people to Jesus, develop committed followers of Christ, connect them in a ministry context, and help them discover and participate in their life mission.”

 Acts 2:41-42
41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.   42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Baptize  (expose and lead to Christ)
Teaching  (grow toward maturity)
Fellowship  (loving & caring)
Breaking of Bread  (lead to worship)
Prayer  (deepen personal relationship with God)

ADULT BIBLE FELLOWSHIP (ABF) LEADERS

I would expect ABF leaders to lead their class toward fulfilling the biblical priorities mentioned above in Acts 2:41-42.  In doing so, our leaders should embrace and model the following:

  •  Our classes should always create an arena of grace, where a person far from God could enter and be exposed to the love and truth of God in a non-judgmental and non-condemning way.  This includes follow-up contact after someone visits.
  • Our classes should always teach for the purpose of application and life-change.
  • Our classes should always seek opportunities to share life together through caring ministry and times of fellowship… which includes staying connected with absentees.
  • Our classes should always be encouraged to attend and participate in our regular worship experiences.
  • Our classes should always be prayerful, seeking God’s leadership in everything that is done.
